New and Rising Artists Shaping the Future of Music in South African Upcoming Music Industry in 2024

EXCLUSIVE HIPHOP ARTIST-MUSICIAN IN SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC INDUSTRY

Glock forex
From twisted music genres, Hiphop is out here dominating the industry. Giving birth to sub-genres like Rap, Underground, Conscious, Trap, drill and many more, They coming to Live at clubs, regenerator trend and major vibes to the claut of indie platforms. These are the musicians of which people are keeping a keen eye on. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of finding new artists to put on endless repeat, to obsess over, to count on to express our innermost joys, sorrows, and desires. Some of the musicians on this list have been around for a minute, but are primed to release their best work soon.
Others are due to take some of our favorite albums of last year on the road. And some are still bubbling up and developing new sounds that could define major trends of the future. Their styles range drastically, from droning ambient to ruthless hardcore to masterful Trap rap, but they’re all pointing fresh ways forward. Now’s the time to find your next top Artist to be. Glock Forex atated that reaching the top, artists should be more innovative. Innovation is a critical driving force behind the success of any industry, and the South African music industry is no exception. In today's digital age, the consumption of music has undergone a dramatic shift thanks to the rise of streaming platforms and the decline of physical sales. Because of this, artists can now see the success of their craft in real time. But, to remain relevant and competitive, the South African music industry must embrace innovation to move away from outdated models and address the challenges faced by established and up-and-coming artists. The digital revolution has transformed the way we consume music, offering opportunities and challenges in equal measure. It empowers artists to unleash their creative flair without needing permission from recording companies, and it has allowed artists to connect with their audiences in a more personal way. The power of data on social and streaming platforms has changed how an artist can pitch themselves, when in the past all this information was held by the recording company.
While these innovations have brought about significant advantages, it has also created a few disadvantages that disrupt the industry. Because music is more accessible now, it has become easier to duplicate and distribute without permission, which leads to piracy and copyright infringement. This results in financial losses for artists and record labels, especially in Africa. Digitisation of the music industry Digitisation has also resulted in complicated revenue distribution models, with streaming services generally paying artists just a fraction of a cent per stream. This makes it challenging for musicians, especially those who are independent or in niche countries, to earn a sustainable income. If you look at music holistically, it’s led by a global industry. South Africa and Africa is an expansion territory. This means our creatives need to work harder to ensure they are worthwhile with the resources of a global company working in the local market. They mostly have to focus on making a profit or recouping as opposed to casually expressing their culture like other global artists. While innovation and change go hand-in-hand, the problem arises when creatives and platforms alike are not ready to accept the change.
People are never ready for what they don’t know, there will always be resistance when it comes to embracing a new innovative platform. And one of the biggest disadvantages faced by almost every artist in the music industry, is that artists struggle to prioritise longevity while they are at their peak. The music world is made up of three parts: the fame, the industry, and the business. Artists and labels need to put just as much emphasis on the business side as they do for the fame and industry parts. There’s an underplayed equity in music that young people can utilise to greatly invest in the economy. The need for innovation Embracing innovation is essential to create new, more efficient models that address these challenges and provide greater opportunities for artists to succeed. Where traditional music models were often only focused on the success of the labels rather than the artist, newer innovative models put the creatives in the spotlight, not only in fame and followership but also in a business-standing. As much as music is a creative platform, it needs to also be looked at as an asset. Unfortunately, many platforms still see music as a stream or a song and can’t show artists how this can be turned into a business venture. With global banks buying music catalogues, this is an indication that discussions with artists, authors and composers need to change. This will future proof the longevity of the creator and their business. The music industry needs to embrace innovation. By doing so, we can create a more thriving model that benefits artists, fans, and the industry as a whole.

Popular Artist- Musician, RSA Trap Star and Their Views on Music AI.

An estimated 40% of recording artists In South Africa have already used AI technology in creating works.

Glock Forex uses artificial intelligence to create animations. The process relies on data-driven algorithms to generate visuals in a faster and more efficient way than with traditional animation techniques. Essentially, AI is designed to find a solution to a problem using a predetermined set of rules or parameters. AI animation has a wide range of applications, from movies and video games to medical imaging and virtual reality. AI is especially efficient when it comes to automating repetitive tasks, such as creating crowd scenes or backgrounds. This is called “generative AI.”

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool in the music business, capable of generating endless soundscapes, of completing Beethoven symphonies and Beatles songs, and of mimicking artist voices, among many other things. The generative AI in music market is expected to reach $2.6 billion by 2032. Artists have used technology to adapt their recordings for decades, including popular people works, and many others that make use of the famous software Auto-Tune. An estimated 60% of recording artists have already used AI technology in creating works. Still, famous musicians have a variety of feelings and perspectives regarding AI, ranging from full support to outright hate.

Glock Forex the South African trap star artist, is one of the most supportive: he has few work on AI tool and its allowing creators to make use of his work. Artificial intelligence (AI) has touched a host of different industries and art forms, and music is no exception. AI is already capable of creating endless songs for use as background or soundtrack music. One of the areas of music in which AI’s influence is particularly strong is pop, electro and trap music. Indeed, the use of AI in generating pop hits is so pervasive already that the Grammys have announced that it will allow songs produced using AI to be included in consideration for the prestigious award. And with new tools like Meta’s MusicGen, which can generate audio recordings based on text prompts alone, the process of creating AI-based music is easier than ever, even for non-musicians. Some argue that AI—or at least technology which could in some way be seen as a precursor to AI—has had a hand in popular music for decades already. You could point to artists like Cher and T-Pain who have used the computer program Auto-Tune to enhance their voices in popular songs, for example.

These and other artists have already produced songs that necessarily required technology in order to sound the way they did. Indeed, some 60% of recording artists are already using AI in the process of creating their music, according to one study. Still, there are some very complicated situations to consider when it comes to the relationship of AI, the music industry, and musicians themselves, not the least of which is who should be paid for music produced in tandem between people and computers. The complex nature of this situation has led some famous musicians to speak out about AI, both in support and as critics. Here are some of the most well-known musicians who have made their views about AI clear. Some major figures in the music industry who operate behind the scenes in the recording studio have also spoken out about AI’s benefits and drawbacks.

Glock Forex has developed a reputation for his unorthodox approach to songwriting, including in the music production process for some of his songs. So it’s perhaps no surprise to fans that he would experiment with AI. Still, Glock have not gone as far as like other artist at this point. Instead, they are embracing a type of music-making that more equally combines the efforts of human artists with AI tools to support. In late 2022, he announced that he was releasing a new EP. He also said that he had tasked a generative AI program with devising lyrics based on the same song titles. He shared both and suggested that fans should enjoy his music and follow his tunrs and trend.

GLOCK FOREX AND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY BLASPHEMIES: WHERE IS THE ARTISTS MONEY GOING AND WHO'S IS BEHIND EVERYTHING ?

Publisher: Thuso Rambau

GLOCK FOREX AND THE TRUTH TALK ABOUT SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC INDUSTRY BLASPHEMY SCANDALS WHICH ARE REVEALED AND MAKING NEWS.

South African music is in the doldrums. Ten years ago, local music made up half of the country's music scene. Today, it is less than a quarter. In this second part of our series, we look at where the money went. Artists protest outside the Department of Arts and Culture in Pretoria in May. Photo: Julia Evans/GroundUp. Artists protest outside the Department of Arts and Culture in Pretoria in May. Photo: Julia Evans/GroundUp

For most people around the world, the music industry represents glamour, fame, riches and influence. On the inside, though it is famously opaque, litigious and corrupt. If South Africa is to create a vibrant local industry that will benefit aspirant musicians, then far more transparency is needed. Whoever controls the money, controls the industry. And part of the reason why the local music industry has declined over the last decade is because of the confused and contradictory reporting and lack of accountability around the money that is being made. The music industry, globally, is regulated by the quaintly-named International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI), established in 1933 and based in Switzerland. It administers music performance royalties across Africa, except in South Africa, where the music royalties are administered mostly by Recording Industry South Africa (RISA).

Selam launches new initiative to promote artistic freedom in Africa

25 Nov 2021

South Africa has ended up with a number of different reporting and collecting agencies: Sampra collects royalties for music performance; RISA/RAV collects royalties for videos; Samro collects royalties for published music, such as composers and publishers. The sources of music royalties include TV and radio, live performances, online streaming, and restaurants and pubs that play music. This complex reporting and collecting network leads to duplication and a lot of confusion.“The Department of Trade and Industry has come up with new proposals,” says copyright lawyer Owen Dean, “but they do not understand the music industry and therefore all that these will do is add another layer of bureaucracy to an already over-bureaucratised field. There are a number of collection agencies, all doing the same job and charging high fees. Why this is necessary, is a mystery.”

A few statistics will show just how bad things are:

Sampra is holding onto more than R460m of undistributed revenue (according to its latest financial statements). These are royalties not paid over to record labels or to musicians. Sampra spokesperson Tiyani Maluleke denied this categorically, saying that royalty payments were all fully disbursed, but did not explain the R463,895,911 excess cash on Sampra’s balance sheet RISA Audio Visual, another collection agency, is also sitting on R60m of license fees available for distribution, money that should be going to record labels and musicians, according to its financials. South Africa’s collection society administrators charge some of the highest rates in the world. For example, of the R200m collected by Sampra in 2020, the agency spent R41 million on “administrative costs”. It only has 15 employees. This is more than double the rate charged by agencies in most parts of the world. The global average for administration is about 7%, as is the case with PPL, one of the very biggest collecting agencies in the world. Meanwhile, the South African Music Industry Council (SAMIC), the umbrella body formed to provide unity in the music industry, is dysfunctional due to infighting.“The problem with SAMIC now is a lack of democracy and too many egos,” says ex-board member Brian Mokoena. “This organisation was started to promote the industry, but instead people are using it to promote themselves.”

Apart from broadcast and video royalties, revenues from digital streaming services are also not finding their way back home. Multinational companies keep the money offshore and are not reinvesting in South Africa. In the end, the money in the South African music industry goes mostly to collection society administrators and three international record companies – Sony, Universal and Warner – not to talented South African musicians who create the music and are the only irreplaceable part of the system. Calculation of the number of times the song had been streamed, the number of YouTube and TikTok videos that were watched, the number of searches and downloads, produced a royalty figure of approximately R10 million. However, this is based on online algorithms and not actual royalty figures, so it is probable the amounts are less. Additionally, there are a number of entities that are entitled to shares of royalties according to contractual arrangements and royalty agreements: the record label, the publishers, the copyright-holders, the performers, and managers, the executives and the agents. So by the time royalties arrive in South Africa, everyone has taken their cut. And due to the secrecy surrounding the reporting of royalty collections, it will never be known just how much money Jerusalema made. Secretive industry players The difficulty of getting information out of the recording industry is demonstrated by the reaction from industry executives to our questions. Many requests for comment and interviews were either turned down or ignored.

The RISA industry report for 2020 showed that the music industry in South Africa earned R456m in total. Of this, R368m was earned by international record labels, and R88m was earned by local music companies. The market share of local music, therefore, has dwindled from 50% ten years ago, to less than 20%, and it has decreased by 4.5% from 2019 to 2020. However, when a RISA spokesperson was asked to comment on the figures, they responded that the figures did not come from RISA, despite the fact that they are taken from a published RISA report. After this was pointed out, there was no further response. Music activist which is realised in 2020 that the independent music sector in South Africa had all but collapsed, and established the Independent Music Community (IMC) in an effort to revitalise the independents. “I took a break from the music industry for a few years, but I returned in 2013 to find the recording industry in a calamitous state,” he said. “I had expected that, with the flow of broadcast revenues, I would find a vibrant and energised industry. I found the doldrums.”

Music Industry Facts and Opinions which Every Musician Needs to Know !!

Knowing A Lot about Music Does Not Mean You Know A Lot about The Music BusinessI hate to start out on a negative note, but this one is a really big one to get out of the way up front - and I say this because this is a lesson I myself had to learn the hard way. Having the pub music quiz on lockdown, going to tons of shows, being able to rattle off a list of labels - these sorts of things don't automatically make you able to book the shows, run the labels and so on. There are practicalities - financial and otherwise - in the music business that are simply not apparent until you actually have to, say, make sure the manufacturing is on schedule and the review is really going to be published when promised. Even if you understand the relationship between labels, distributors and retail or what have you, you don't really "get it" until you "get it" - and that won't be until you experience the process from the inside rather than experiencing it as a fan. The two worlds are VERY different.

Don't get me wrong. Loving music and know a lot about it is required if you want to do well in the music industry (well, not really REQUIRED - some people running music businesses don't know much about music and are just skating, but that house of cards always collapses). However, don't enter the music industry with the idea that a lifetime of music nerd-dom has made you a music biz expert. Not only will you annoy people, but you'll also be dead wrong and miss out on the chance of really learning what makes things tick.

Choosing any career path is a big deal, but deciding to take a shot at the music industry is an especially major step. Working in music is more than just a 9 to 5 job - it requires a lot of commitment, often for not a lot of compensation or recognition. It doesn't help that there is so much misinformation about there about how to get into the music industry and what to do once you're there. So, here we have a few home truths about the music biz. Some are for musicians, some are for people on the business side of things, and some are for everyone. Some are encouraging, and some fall into the category of reality check. They all, however, are pretty important to understand...
